Kimreeaa Gallery is presenting <Collector’s Collection: Kwon Dae Sup> as the last exhibition of 2022. The Moonjars of artist Kwon Dae Sup, who creates ceramics with the most modern sense of beauty inspired by tradition, are presented in a new landscape created by approximately 800 rough-textured concrete blocks.

Kwon Dae sup studies and faithfully follows the traditional production method of white porcelain from the Joseon dynasty. But he does not reproduce the tradition. Kwon embraces the aesthetic sense of Joseon white porcelain that persists even in modern times. The moonjar of the artist, which is not in a perfect circle, reveals a different face depending on the viewing angle and comes in a variety of pure white colors relative to the light of the space it is placed in. Kwon’s white porcelain, in which the artist’s proficiency is accompanied by the beauty of nature in the process of making, has a consistent aesthetic sense with our traditional objects that had variety in moderation.

Kwon’s work, which shows a formative language connecting the past and present, will be exhibited in the space designed by Torafu Architects, a Japanese architect group. The new garden is created with 6” concrete blocks, commonly used in modern architecture.  The space allows audiences to experience the works of Kwon, whose aesthetics span from the tradition to the present, in a unique environment.
